Thanksgiving Traditions that Work Year-Round

Thanksgiving is almost here! Ready for feasting and family? There’s nothing better than gathering ’round a table of delicious food and celebrating our loved ones. Thanksgiving has so much goodness bundled up into one day… which has us wondering: why leave all these traditions to just one day?

We believe there are plenty of Turkey Day traditions that ought to be implemented year-round. Bring these Thanksgiving traditions into your everyday calendar and (believe it or not!) your wedding day:

  • Sumptous tablescapes: We love to see your décor ideas at this time of year… decadent tabletops elegantly designed and piled with homemade dishes never fail to impress friends and family. Bring your inner Martha (or Joanna!) to life more than just once a year—and especially during wedding season. Why not offer to host a bridal brunch for a friend, or even DIY a bit of tablescape magic for your own rehearsal dinner?
  • Potluck: Whether you gather with family, or celebrate an annual Friendsgiving, there’s always one thing in common this time of year: food! And when everybody pitches in, serving up a delicious feast is a snap. Potluck meals are a great opportunity to get together, without putting all the stress on one hostess. Bring this tradition to life year-round with potluck invitation assembly sessions, bachelorette brunches, and elegant engagement parties.
  • Pies: Who doesn’t love a bite of something sweet? Pies have definitely made their debut into wedding world, and we have a feeling they’re here to stay for awhile. In miniature form, they are sophisticated and sweet—a delightful way to entertain your wedding guests.
  • Grateful hearts: the real reason we gather around the table every year: to celebrate our blessings. It’s fair to say this tradition deserves much more attention throughout the calendar year! We know wedding planning can be stressful (sometimes even downright chaotic!), but we think Thanksgiving is a perfect reminder to slow down and count our blessings.

The White Sparrow wishes you a happy Thanksgiving! Whether you’ve celebrated a barn wedding here with us, or are looking forward to tying the knot soon… we hope your Thanksgiving is filled with happiness (and delicious food) from start to finish. Don’t forget to bring a few of these traditions with you into the remainder of the year!
