Couple New Year’s Resolutions
For every couple, it’s important to not only set resolutions for yourself but also together as a couple. It not only brings you closer but gives you things to work on throughout the year.
Do Something New
Keep the relationship fresh and do something new every month. It’s an easy way to spice up your relationship and keep things exciting. Whether you want to try a new activity, eat at a new restaurant, or travel to a city you’ve never been to – commit to trying one new activity every single month.
Commit to the resolution by putting it into action. Come up with twelve ideas that you both want to try this year. Write them down on small pieces of paper and put them in a jar. Each month, pull out an idea to try.
We get so caught up with technology these days that it can be hard to be present and in the moment. While it sounds like a simple task, this can be harder than you may expect. Take some time to put your phone down and be present with each other. Whether it’s during a conversation or when you are sitting on the couch, power down your phone and spend time enjoying the moment with each other. You may even find yourself feeling more focused by spending less time scrolling!
Make laughter and fun a priority in your relationship. Whether you want to share funny stories, attend a comedy show, or watch your favorite rom-com, spending time laughing together will create more memorable moments in your relationship and allow for more fun.
Don’t forget to date each other. Setting up a weekly date night can be tough but will help keep the spark alive. It allows for quality time every week, no matter how stressful your schedules get. This time is uninterrupted without the distractions of everyday life, work, or little ones. Don’t let setting up a date night be stressful. Whether you want to go to your favorite restaurant or order pizza in, spending focused time together will help keep your relationship alive and well.
Sign up your partner as your workout buddy to help keep you both accountable. Not only will this help keep you moving but it’s a great way to spend quality time together even during busy seasons. When you feel like skipping a class, you know you will have support from your partner to keep you on track to improve your overall health. (try a new workout class to conquer resolution #1!)
