DFW local destination wedding

Planning a wedding during a pandemic is not an easy task. Navigation the planning process while gathering precautions are constantly changing can cause location changes and even guest list changes. Choosing the perfect venue to say “I do’ is stressful, but can be even more difficult if you are looking for a destination wedding. Some couples are choosing to skip the stress of a destination wedding and opt for a DFW local destination wedding. While it doesn’t include any traveling, it doesn’t mean that you can’t include your favorite destination through special touches and details at your wedding. We’ve put together a list of easy and unique ways to incorporate your dreamy destination into your local DFW wedding.

Food

Make your meal a little more memorable by incorporating food, ingredients, and culture from your dream location into your wedding reception. It’s an unexpected way to incorporate your original location into your DFW wedding but your guests will love the extra touch. Whether you choose a few specific ingredients from your location or incorporate a well-known meal from your dream venue, guests (and you!) will love seeing the intentional details to the location that is near and dear to your heart.

Cocktails

Create a specialty cocktail that is well-known to your dream location for a fun way to incorporate that special place into your cocktail hour. If you wanted something tropical, try adding a specialty drink like a pina colada and add small accessories like umbrellas to make guests feel like they are on an island. Add in photos of you and your partner in your favorite location to the cocktail tables to tie in a sentinel memory of that sweet spot.

Flowers

Cultures, states, and countries tend to have a state flower or a flower they are known for. Why not incorporate it into your big day? Even though it is a DFW local destination wedding, that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative with your florals. Go the subtle route and add a few steps of that flower into your bouquet to walk down the aisle with or make a statement with a  large flower arrangement for table centerpieces. Either way, it is a beautiful way to add a piece of the location you were supposed to say “I do” in.

Colors

Incorporate colors that are well known to that location that comes to mind when you think of going there. It’s a special touch that is known to you and your partner. You’ll be able to look back on photos knowing exactly why you chose those specific colors.

If your colors are already chosen, try adding in a few extra details in those colors like cocktail hour accessories or sweet treats with colored sprinkles or frosting.

Traditions

There are so many different traditions around the world that symbolize health, love, romance, and unity. Do a little research to see if your original destination had any well-known traditions that you can incorporate into your ceremony. It is a special way to include that specific culture and location while making your ceremony unique and memorable for you and your guests.

Stationery

Incorporate well-known landmarks into the background of your invites or save the dates. While subtle, it is an easy way to include that special spot into your wedding day, even if you are keeping your wedding local to DFW.

Thank You Cards

While traveling for large groups can be tricky right now, look to see if you and your partner can book a weekend away in your wedding destination. Hire a photographer to take photos of the two of you to use for your wedding thank you cards. While your guests were unable to end the location, you will be able to send them a little piece of the spot that is meaningful to you and your partner. The best part? You will have photos to remember your weekend away for a lifetime.
