How to Choose Your MOH

September 10, 2019

White Barn Wedding Venue

As your white barn wedding venue, we are here to help you figure out how to choose your Maid of Honor! It can be tough to decide who goes in that number one spot, kind of like choosing your MySpace Top 8, but even harder. We’re here to help you navigate this decision!

Think of your family first. Family makes it easy to not have to choose between your close friends, but don’t feel like you have to choose a family member. Do you have a sister or a cousin that you are incredibly close to? Ask them and just let your friends be the bridesmaids. They will all fully understand if you choose family over them to stand in that special spot.

Remember that you can break the rules! Have multiple maid of honor’s or no MOH. It is fully up to you how you do your wedding and if you stick to norms like having a maid of honor. If you can’t choose between your roommate for the past six years and your best friend that you have known since you were, five, don’t. Have them both be your MOH. They will both be so honored and you won’t have to go through the hard process of telling one of them no.

Seriously think through who would be up for the task. Being a maid of honor is responsibility. It includes planning all of the parties leading up to the wedding, keeping the other bridesmaids in check, and overall just being there for you extra. Maybe don’t ask your friend who has a 3 year old and a newborn to be your maid of honor. As much as she would love standing by your side, that much responsibility might just be too much to add to her already growing plate.
