Texas Hot Weather WeddingsTexas Hot Weather Weddings: Tips to Stay Cool

Summer weddings are beautiful and quite popular here at The White Sparrow Barn. From the warm weather to the late sunset, many couples love to tie the knot on a summer day. The trees and the sunset make for beautiful wedding photos, and guests enjoy the outdoors.  While summer days are full of sunshine and smiles, they can come with strong heat, insects, and direct sunlight. If you were looking to have a summer wedding and are worried about the heat, we’ve put together a list of ideas to help keep you and your guests cool while you tie the know!

Fan Favors

Make fans a part of your wedding by using them as a wedding favor. It will help keep guests keep cool during the ceremony and act as a fun favor for guests to take home and remember your big day.

If you already have specific favors in mind, consider adding a wooden fan to the ceremony program. Every guest who grabs a program will have a fan with them, allowing them to stay cool during the ceremony.

Add Shade

When planning your wedding, consider the time of day you will be getting married. If it is during peak sun hours, consider adding areas of shade throughout the ceremony and reception. If possible, consider moving the ceremony into a shaded area with trees for comfort for you and your guests. The trees will help add shade while adding beautiful greenery to your ceremony. Look for large umbrellas or tents that can add shade to your wedding day while fitting in with your decor.

After Dinner Ice Cream

Give your guests an after-dinner sweet treat that doubles as a cool-down. Opt for an ice cream truck to make an appearance as a fun surprise for guests or serve your favorite flavors throughout the reception.  For a different option, choose gelato or custom flavored popsicles as a pleasant surprise.

Refreshing Drinks

On a hot day, it’s essential to stay hydrated. For you and your guests, have refreshing drinks on ice for you and your guests to help beat the heat. It will help guests stay hydrated and ensure everyone is feeling great for the reception.

Sunglasses

Have a basket of sunglasses for guests to use throughout the ceremony. If the sun is shining directly in their eyes, it can be hard to focus on you during the ceremony. If you are having a wedding weekend, add sunglasses into guests’ welcome bags. They can use them throughout the weekend and take them home as a memorable favor that they can use again and again.

Sunscreen

If a portion of your wedding is in the sun for long periods of time, add sunscreen to the bathroom or welcome bag for guests to use. Add a basket full of sunscreen or hats for guests to use throughout the wedding.

Mosquito Repellant

When the sun goes down, mosquitos and flies tend to start buzzing around on warm summer nights. Add mosquito repellant candles to reception tables. The twinling light adds a romantic ambiance while helping to repel bugs away, letting your guests focus on having a good time.

Vendors

Don’t forget about your wedding vendors on your big day! They are working hard to give your perfect day, be sure to have plenty of cold water on hand. It’s a great way to ensure your vendors stay cool and feel refreshed for your big day.
